About me

My name is Megan Aul and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. I am a Dallas native and moved for the first time to Austin to complete my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. I then moved to Boston to pursue my MA in Counseling Psychology at Assumption University, an institution affiliated with the Beck Institute. My clinical training therefore was focused on the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the treatment of mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse issues. During my time there, I completed a practicum and internship at the Bridge of Central Massachusetts, the state’s premier human services agency, where I was intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and utilized this skills-based approach to help individuals struggling with severe mental health issues. Upon returning to Texas, I completed my hours toward licensure while working at Metrocare Services, the largest provider of community mental health services in North Texas, helping children and families in crisis. Since obtaining full licensure here in Texas, I’ve worked at Enterhealth, an outpatient substance use facility. Utilizing a science-based approach, I have treated individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders for the past four years.

Since being in private practice, I have worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults addressing a variety of issues. My specialities include depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and substance abuse. I am also very comfortable assessing and strategizing next steps with families whose loved one is struggling with substance use.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, Pierce. We love spending time outside, cooking and grilling together, and going on long walks with our dog, Cooper.
